PAWSTAT, or Portable Animal Wellness System for Tracking Arterial Tension, is a senior design project created by a small team of students at Kansas State University. In December 20244, the team won an award for their project.
My primary role in this project involved creating firmware and the embedded software that powered our device, which was built using PlatformIO. An ESP32 allows for Bluetooth communication with a mobile device, allowing the user to easily save results. The system includes failsafes to ensure the device aborts measurements if a potentially unsafe situation (such as cuff overpresure) is detected.
